Linda Gibson Jensen

Professor Emerita

Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Professor, Artist and an exceedingly kind and lovely person who is always thinking of others. Raised in Jackson, Mississippi, from age six, Linda knew that she wanted to be a teacher and started by teaching art to her dolls in her bedroom closet. She graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Art Education and subsequently earned a Masters in Art Education and Masters of Fine Arts in photography at Memphis State University. Linda taught art to middle and high school students in inner city Memphis, often in "at-risk" schools - nothing more challenging, literally, and taught for 16 years. She has wonderful memories of teaching and had a profound positive influence on those around her. In 1985 she was offered a tenure track position at Armstrong State University in Savannah, GA, teaching photography and art education achieving the rank of Full Professor. Linda was a well loved, successful and dedicated teacher. She is a very talented and accomplished artist who hand colors black and white photographs using Marshall's Photo Retouch colors, Prismacolor pencils using thousands of glass seed beads and other mixed media.

Most importantly she is wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She raised two beautiful children, Evan and Mary Catherine (Kiki) and is still raising me. We live on the Isle of Hope, Savannah, GA and love and deeply admire each other, are best friends, and are thankful for every day together. My joke, actually it is not - I was a funny looking guy from northern Wisconsin looking for a Beautiful woman from Mississippi. I hit the jackpot.""

As we frequently say

"We are the Lucky Ones."

We all are, we may not realize it.
